What a fucking hypocrisy from my coworkers today! I hate situation like that –

It all started when a coworker mentioned that she is very tired after a really hard workout at the gym yesterday. I stupidly asked — “what do you mean? The gyms are closed because of recent pandemic lockdown rules”. It was met with snickering half-smiles…” yeah — wink, wink — gyms are closed all right — wink, wink”. Seemingly gyms are and were open since the new lockdown rules. No one seemed to care, and apparently, everybody knew about it. More people joined the conversation saying that they too go to gyms without any issues and problems. And obviously without any moral or ethical issues with regards to breaking lockdown rules and possibly endangering their lives and lives of others that might come in contact with them — like me.

Even our H&S manager who was walking by said that she goes to the gym as well — and she is responsible for our internal safety rules against the pandemic! How people don’t see the fucking dichotomy in that? And no more than a week ago we were talking in the same group about how the recent lockdown, where there are no rules about closing churches (especially during the Easter holiday time) is so pointless — people will go to churches and give opportunity for the virus to spread and pandemic to continue unchecked. And all that talk while breaking lockdown rules themselves… I feel terribly disappointed in that and in my coworkers and I guess in a sizable part of the population. Especially those “holier-than-thou”, thinking that they have moral superiority types that seem to be everywhere and loud now. I thought at least people I work with are normal and educated and thoughtful about the current situation — but apparently are only seemingly so….
