And today a short story on how to make a Monday morning not only bearable but positively awesome!

I came to work as usual before 7 am, rode my bike this morning since the weather is still ok. As I was going to a locker room to change a co-worker (a female co-worker) from my department who just arrived said “hello” as were passing in the hallway. Then she checked me out, looking me up and down. Then she smiled at me with a warm and genuine smile. Then she complimented my clothes and commented very positively on my weight loss (I lost 5kg in the last two months). Since that meeting in the morning she has come over to my desk a couple of times for some light banter and gossip and she simply seemed to enjoy talking to me and my company.

And that was all that I needed, now I feel just beaming with positive energy and self-confidence. I am a 47 years old guy who is so starved for compliments and good words and simple warmth from others (and not just from the opposite sex). Even though I know I look good for my age, I care about my grooming and my clothes, and I take good care of my body since I started this new, sober chapter in my life — hearing that from another person takes it to a different level in building up and stroking my ego. The fact itself that I can be interesting and alluring to others is an amazing and wonderful feeling.

I do need companionship in my life, and that situation from this morning helps a lot with my assurance and poise in that matter. And even though this Monday is gloomy and tedious (as most Mondays usually are), I feel quite brightly optimistic.
