Circular rhythm

I left the sleeping city behind and concentrated only on watching the change of color outside the windows. The change progressed gradually and snaily. It started with a pitch black with some points of light here and there telling me that somewhere out there are living people or some kind of life at all. Then I noticed a dark gray band slowly expanding on one side of the sky, shyly extending its reach upward. The gray was becoming more prevalent, and soon I could recognize some shapes scrolling by outside the windows. At first, they were fuzzy and only vaguely defined, but some things were out there. Soon after, more defined contours were seen and normal visual perception of watching the views while traveling was restored. With the sky starting to show some pale pinkness, I could see trees and houses and roads and signs of the individuality of the landscape.

I felt amazingly safe in the circular rhythm of the train wheels. And sleepy. I felt like I could just stay in my seat for hours, without any needs or wants — as long as the scenery keeps scrolling and there is something new to keep my eyes on. What I felt was the immediate state between lazy wakefulness and slow floating away in sleep and a dream. That is an amazing feeling, especially when it registers in consciousness and stays in memory for a while. I felt my body getting soft and malleable, and every muscle movement was a pleasure. Every stretch of my legs or arms would bring warm physical satisfaction. It only lasted for an hour or so before I got to my destination. Small pleasures in mundane events are unexpected, but very welcomed when accepted as they are and when just happening.
