How wonderful is to find a new artist and new art to enjoy. Especially when it’s a NEW/MODERN artist. I am mostly a traditionalist, I rarely enjoy and appreciate new things in art and music. On the other hand — in movies and books (non-fiction) I keep my interest on new releases.
Paintings of Jason Anderson are noticeable right away — the colors and lighting create a characteristic and original mood. His painting style with liberal use of palette knife is very distinctive and creative. He found his unique style, and I am sure he already is well known and well off because of that. The generous quantities of paint that he put on canvas create almost a 3D effect.
But the mood (even if a little repetitive) is what makes it so interesting for me. Looking from the distance at the lights of what? — The city boulevard along the water or ships moored outside of port or a street after the rain with light reflected and refracted into rectangles in the evening or night air and fog.
That makes me realize that I haven’t walked abound in the city in the evening or night in a long while. I don’t actually remember the last time I didn’t spend an evening outside my home. Obviously I had good reasons to do it when I was drinking… I think that might be something interesting for me to do, I will try to have a walk in the evening in the city this Saturday.
