Fun along the way

I remember many years ago, my cat (RIP Grosz) brought home a mouse. He was stalking the garden and the shed for any critters, keeping watch at various times of the day or night — but without much luck until this momentous day. I made a racket seeing this but he was rather indifferent. He let it go and the half-dead mouse tried to dart one way or another, but he was always just as quick, and at the last moment, he pounced and pinned the mouse to the ground with his paw. He finally got his trophy after a long search and many tries. And then he looked at me with a curious and dumbfounded expression — “I got it and… what do I do now?”.

That pretty much describes my behavior and my attitude to life in general and to my daily actions in particular. I have plentiful goals and aims that I want to achieve in my life. Even though there are a lot of them — I don't fret about there being too many of them— because the way to the finish line is as much fun and fulfillment as actually getting to the final point. And I don't mind detours or even step-backs — and there are A LOT of detours — since each one gives me something new and unexpected to explore and discover. And there is no timeline for any of my goals — I enjoy any pace that is of my making and is by my decision. And all my goals are in reality open-ended —when I get to some artificial finish point, I know that from there I can take several new paths for going forward. I never planned this way on purpose and I guess it just happened along the way as I was going forward. I have fun and that is all that matters.
