Laziness

The problem is not human smallness and narrowness of mind and imagination and interests — it is only laziness of a particular kind that is prevalent and almost ingrained in all of us. It is the laziness of independent thinking and reasoning.

We are all busy with our hectic lives. Everybody hustles at work, taking care of family and around the house, being active in public and social matters, and working on this or that as a hobby or way to improve the body and mind.

We must stay busy to avoid free time for thinking and reasoning about deeper issues than mundane everyday stuff.

And we as humans are doing a bang-up job of that — always on the move under the pressure of time. And yet, we all have the ability to find the truth or the light that is above and beyond the physical surface we are all so busily cultivating.

Everyone can be a star and a map and a path in him/herself. The problem is laziness in following the true will to be a true person. The laziness that stops us from exploring the risks, or risking our comforts in exchange for previously prepared and reheated thoughts and actions.

I know this is my problem as well. When faced with a problem or an issue, many times, instead of trying to figure it out for and by myself, I use shortcuts using a mixture of thoughts and words and opinions of other people. I can appear smart and original that way.

All that is because I am too lazy to follow the issues in an independent and personal way. There is no or very little original me in those thoughts. It saves time for me to do other things, but I am not sure what exactly those other things are…
