Life and destruction

Life and destruction are mutually connected and intertwined concepts. They have an unbreakable interdependence — the more the drive toward life is thwarted, the stronger is the necessity for destruction. And the more life is realized, the need for and the strength of destruction becomes less and less prevalent.

Destructiveness — in all forms and guises — is the result and the outcome of an unlived life. From self-destructiveness toward your own body and mind and hopes and dreams, up to wholesale destruction of life and nations and identity and freedom of choice and freedom from fear and future and peace and well-being and happiness.

Once the individual and social conditions that make life worth living are suppressed, the only potential outcome is destruction of the individual and the fabric of social life. Destruction and passion for destruction become the only choice and are oh so easily embraced by those who suffer the most — for no more than a momentary relief.

Destructiveness feeds on itself — it forms a reservoir from which the particular hostile and harmful tendencies — either toward others or against oneself — are nourished. That reservoir constantly stays full by regurgitating self-pity and unconscious self-loathing that one finds in deep recesses of the soul.

It is nigh possible to break out from this vicious circle — life comes back with its own fury from every wasteland of destruction. Life itself is the fuel for rebirth if only allowed a tiniest sliver of hope. That is why hope is the most precious of all the concepts of mind and as long it lingers — no matter how deep in the darkness — then life can overcome the destructiveness.
