Lists and schedules

Again, I will write about the importance of making lists and schedules — as a reminder to myself and as a recommendation for everyone.

My life is not particularly busy but still, there are things I do and need to schedule in advance. I always remind myself to make a to-do list and work from there but sometimes I am too lazy or uninspired to actually do it. And then if one thing changes or is rescheduled, that affects another thing and it becomes too difficult to remember all that and in the end — I have to do something in the last minute or lie to postpone it or rush other things to get to something originally scheduled…

And that doesn’t work for me, at all. I don’t react well to making changes under pressure at the last moment. I don’t like even more the realization that I forgot about something or that something depends on something I was supposed to do previously — and didn’t. I have no problem making changes and adjusting my schedule — but only if it is my unforced decision or if it is something beyond my control; if I need to change or adjust something because of my forgetfulness then I am pretty angry with myself — and that has a very bad influence on my emotional state.

So, with a busy Holiday season coming up, with all the planned gatherings, some legal stuff I need to take care of, a planned trip abroad (with all the extra steps and restrictions on travel within the EU that I need to adhere to) seems like I even have to plan my play and rest time in advance. There is no choice then — lists and schedules can only help me survive this hectic time.
