footsteps of the Furies
2 min readMar 3, 2021

Interpersonal communication has degraded tremendously in the last 20 years. One of the reasons for writing this blog is to improve my written communication, my language, grammar and vocabulary skills (and to find an outlet for my verbosity). There are other reasons as well — to leave something behind that hopefully will stay forever in the internet archives and to practice my responsibility and create new habit — that every day I will need to find 10–45 minutes to write another post. It is also a way to keep a diary for me, where I will be able to go back and see myself from a month, a year or more ago.

The ability to use descriptive language In the era of memes and emojis there is not needed. Why to use words when I can post a ☹ or post a current popular meme. Or even post an old meme that can be read as ironic or post-ironic statement. Or something that an old, lame “boomer” might post trying to be cool. I don’t even….

Now, obviously the last sentence is there for ironic reason — “I don’t even….” conveys a feeling of exasperation and confusion in a couple of simple words. Does anything confusing needs a better, deeper description? Possibly in a book or an essay it might. In rapid, social media communication “I don’t even….” works much better. And we are conditioned (better to say conditioned than brain-washed, I guess) to reply to posts on social media. Be it for likes, to fill a gaping hole in our lives by imaginary internet points. Or maybe to feel a part of that particular imaginary internet community to fill a gaping hole in our lives.

I don’t know where I am going with this post, so I am going to end writing now.
