Mundus Imaginalis

First of all — DO NOT confuse it with an imaginary world. Mundus Imaginalis means the Imaginal World. That slight difference in spelling makes the real meaning understood in the true sense. The imaginary world is a world of fantasy and fiction. And being so, it is so rich and satisfying in its varieties, bound only by the limits (or lack thereof) of human ingenuity and creativity. The Imaginal World is the real world, only it does not have a material substratum. For me — it is already more than a theory or an idea. I know the imaginal world exists.

I saw glimpses of this world, I felt its existence in the carnal receptors of my body. Of course, the imaginal world cannot survive in our material world for too long. Only for long enough to register its being suspended between the material and the purely spiritual worlds. And the ability to notice the imaginal world is uncommon. This ability is given to just a few. I believe myself to be one of those lucky ones. Or cursed, as it might be. Once glimpsed, or felt — the imaginal world lodges itself firmly in the mind of that person keen enough to notice. And then, the life-long quest begins — first to experience it again. To learn how it could be possible to make the image or emotion of the imaginal world linger for longer. That quest will supersede any other ideas in life, even though the seeker knows well it will be unsuccessful. But the quest will remain the goal for the rest of the life of that lucky person. Or a curse, as it might be.
