No more Zoos!

Get rid. Now!

I dont care how wonderful they might be and how progressive they are towards the welfare of animals.

Get. Rid. NOW!

I dont care if they specialise in breeding endangered animals in captivity and how much space animals have there and how much joy they bring to visitors and especially children.

GET! RID! NOW!

There are no redeeming qualities in any Zoo anywhere for any reasons. It is only animals, wild animals and birds locked in cages for the viewing pleasure of us — the cruel and moronic public. There is no place in modern society, or any society for that matter, for public displays of pain and despondency and horror of captivity of animals taken from freedom of nature and put in cages and enclosures.

I was at a work-related party last evening. And the party was nice and I stayed there for longer than I expected beforehand, but — There is a petting zoo on the grounds where we were. Before it got dark, me and a few other people walked around, watching animals that were not commonly found in the part of the world we live in. And it wasnt just me who felt uneasy and queazy about it. There were comments about how awfully it might be for those animals to be locked there for our pleasure. Especially birds. There were parrots in a sizable enclosure surrounded by wire mesh, which were seemingly trying to tear that wire with their beaks and break free. And they were screaming very loudly. It was just awful and painful to watch and experience. I would never, out of my own free will, visit a zoo. Yesterday, it was a chance occurrence only, but it solidifies my view that we need to get rid of the zoos now!
