Pavlov’s Dog — Theme from Subway Sue

October 30th

Whenever I can, when everything quiets down at work, I like to put on some music to listen to (in my headphones of course). In recent weeks I’ve been going through a lot of different progressive rock playlist and that helped me to discover some new songs or re-discover those I have forgotten about. I have a soft spot for prog rock — from the sublime classics like Pink Floyd to grandiosity of Supertramp to weirdness of Van Der Graaf Generator to spaced out-in-space sound of Soft Machine to heaviness of Tool to sublime creativity of Genesis. I feel rather proud to have all that (mostly useless) knowledge of those bands and songs and albums. But still, once in a while I randomly hear a song I never heard, from the band I never heard of. Like the song above where from the first note, from the first sound I sat up in attention knowing that this is it. Another gem that fits me and my musical taste. Granted — the voice of the singer (yes, that is a male singer) takes a while to get used to, but overall sound and songwriting craft is really top-notch. I love this thrill of discovery of something new and just to my likening — I spent the last evening listening to the oeuvre of this band and found more songs I like a lot for my mind’s music library.
