footsteps of the Furies

March 10th

And what actually I can do regarding all that is happening around the world. In no particular order:

A new war in Europe — one that very soon can endanger me and my loved ones.
Thousands of innocent people dying right now.
The several millions of refugees crying over their lost homes and homeland.
Several other wars around the world.
Ethnic cleansing and apartheid(Uyghurs and Palestinians).
Unstoppable climate change.
The spiraling inequality between those who have and those who have not.
Raging inflation and the recent Russia fuckup will only make it worse.
Customer prices going through the roof.
Rise of authoritarian leaders everywhere.
Failure of globalization.
Renewed East/West, North/South, Secular/Religious divisions everywhere.
The unpredictability of everything every time now.
Serious damage to my lifestyle.

There could be a lot more to add to this list, and yes — it is extremely depressing. I think we were fine for much too long. This long period of safety and security in the Western World was quite unprecedented. We tricked ourselves into thinking that this time of plenty and peace will last forever. The conflicts were happening somewhere else to people not like us. The chaos as it is now is the normal way things always went about. It’s time now for a lot of changes and sweat and tears and blood.

And that brings me back to what I can do. Now, I need to define what is my goal. And I think I can say is that I want to keep my current lifestyle without many changes. I don’t know if that will be possible. What next? Reduce my needs and wants to a level that can be adjusted quickly and painlessly to unpredictable changes. And that is something realistic for me to do. So, now I need to rethink and deeply analyze where I am and what can I do differently to be able to react to constant changes and difficulties. And then stick to a new plan.

I will sure miss my boring, predictable life as it was so far…
