Preservation of personal identity

Isn’t it what we all do? By different means and with different results, but that is the driving force behind all of our actions and plans and dreams and all the work we put into daily life — to achieve a permanent preservation of personal identity beyond death? Is it even moral to want and to try to preserve a personal identity, since by doing this, an evil personal identity will be preserved by all the posterity? That might be a problem we are all facing today — the evil doers will be remembered after they are gone for all the monumentally terrible things they did, and not for anything good they might try to accomplish. That goes to all the (political or religious or national) leaders and those scheming behind the coattails of those in power. Good deeds are forgotten easily, or even worse, are simply taken for granted. The unspeakable evil remains, wrecking havoc and destroying the lives and dreams of innocents, long after those who implemented the legalized wrongness have gone. Legal evil is an evil of choice nowadays. As long as the legislative and judicial and media yes-men and women say it fits the scope of law and morals, then the potential barriers of ethical behaviour disappear. The reasons are secondary — blood-thirst is of the foremost importance. And then, the identities and names of those who do evil will be remembered — cursed and wailed upon — but remembered. Identies and names of the sufferers and victims will be forgotten within a generation with a new news cycle, and with a new violent cycle that will come as surely as the rising sun.
