Prototype of ineffectuality

The ethereal being above the Demiurge is hardly equipped for creation. Since he is alpha and omega and possesses everything, he has no need to create and has no need for omnipotence. He can help no one, nor does he need to. That weakness — anemia and kindness in all equal measures in partnership — is the great prototype of ineffectuality. We can see it clearly only when we discard our historical dimensions of mind and reason. When we resume our logical thinking, he again becomes incomprehensible to us, he becomes an alien god — as presented in a magisterial study by von Harnack. He has nothing, he is a monster of nothingness and that is fascinating to us. For false but convenient comfort, we then turn to the creator, this evil Demiurge, this inferior and carnal god, this trickster and instigator of events. We can imagine his struggle with evil — which is innovative, and his struggle with good — which is no more than inertia. We lie to ourselves that this struggle had to be fatal to evil, and only we can grudgingly accept that some contamination might have occurred. We spend our lives trying to convince ourselves that creation itself cannot be altogether wicked and wrong. That is the fundamental mistake of humankind — evil presides over all that is corruptible, and our bodies and minds are made to be corrupted by the same evil creator we learned to worship. The circle is then completed, and only a few dare to even entertain the thought of breaking out.
