Funicular in Kaunas

I woke up this morning at 4.30 am, but the sun was already slowly creeping up — that brought a smile to my face.

Per agreement with my boss, I only worked today for one hour to take care of the most pressing issues, and then I took the rest of the day off to start my May Day long weekend (without using a vacation day) — which brought a smile to my face.

My trip to Kaunas for the long weekend was smooth and nice and without issues — that brought a smile to my face.

An old friend contacted me out of the blue, and we talked for a while — that brought a smile to my face.

There was a whole new city awaiting me to discover — that brought a smile to my face.

The sun was shining all day — that brought a smile to my face.

I saw countless storks flying and nesting along the way — that brought a smile to my face.

I drove by a road sign directing to a village in Lithuania named Pramones, I mean if you just remove the “P” then you got “Ramones” —silly thought like that brought a smile to my face.

I rode on a funicular — that brought a smile to my face.

I rode on a trolleybus — that brought a smile to my face.

Shopping in a supermarket in a different country with all the new grocery staples is always challenging, but also fun to discover something new — that brought a smile to my face.

There were young women dancing some kind of pagan spring fertility ritual dance in the pedestrian mall in Kaunas — that brought a smile to my face.

Basically, I smiled all day. And even though now I am dead tired, I got a nice bed in a nice apartment near the old town with a house cat running around — I am still smiling.

One of the top days I had in years. And the cat already knows that I will be petting him every opportunity I have and will feed him snacks as well.

All is really, really good.
