The fall of matriarchy

I believe and I think it can be proven that all the problems and ills of the modern world, or rather, problems and ills that have plagued humankind for millenniums stem from the change in the balance of power in tribal and up to nationwide level, and in every single religious movement — from matriarchy to patriarchy. That has happened in different historical eras in different parts of the world, but the result is the same everywhere — inequality and violence and abuse and oppression and the creation of special classes of people who have control over goods and divide and rule and make decisions without oversight and accountability.

Going by the historical and archeological evidence, that change happened in Europe with the advent of Indoeuroeans from the Asiatic steppes. Original societies who lived in Central and Southern Europe were matriarchal and stood no chance against the violence and power and brutality of invaders from whom most of the modern white Europeans originate and share their barbaric genetic make-up. Me too, but it seems I am evolving beyond the boundaries of expectations of the particular upbringing that is ladled into every white European child in every school and in the society beyond.

Looking at the themes of comparative mythologies — for example in Greek, Roman, and Germanic mythologies — the gradual reduction of women from sacred and worshipped beings as givers and creators of life to mere chattel is obvious. The same is visible in religion, the Christian religion that is still prevalent in Europe — where concentrated efforts were made by writers and then commentators of the Old and New Testaments to deny the godhead to Eve and make her a scapegoat for all the misery of humans. The same is obvious in the treatment of Asherah / Astarte as a goddess equal to the Demiurge of the Bible.

And what we received in return from patriarchy — constant competition between people that destroys any potential chances for cooperation. Constant aggressiveness and violence and the cult of possessions for the sake of having more and more. Constant comparing and judging oneself against others and against made-up benchmarks of achievement. All that is so ingrained into our psyche that no change is possible — except on an individual level. And that change in me will be quite satisfactory for me.
