Thoughts and prayers

May 25th

I am angry today.

I am angry at the war in Ukraine where death and suffering become mundane and so ordinary thing.

I am angry that the welcome for refugees is already waning and there are grumblings about “when will they go home?”

I am angry at the overwhelming hate that makes someone get a gun and kill children at school.

I am angry at the lack of any mental health services to potentially stop that hate.

I am angry at politicians who offer “thoughts and prayers” without doing anything to prevent any future mass killings in the USA.

I am angry at the corpse of Henry Kissinger who advises governments to accept the role of Russia and its demands.

I am angry at politicians who listen to him.

I am angry at the Pope, who basically says the same about accepting the demands of the powerful.

That is all for today.

But wait — this anger is different from my normal, depressing, powerless anger. This anger fuels me with righteousness and energy and demand for payback. No clue what to do, but I know I don’t have to accept the injustice and violence and appeasement. One thing I can do is to write and to show my refusal to be a part of all that. I don’t know if anybody will hear me, but that will not stop me. Like a line in a song — “anger is a gift” and I will learn to channel it in a proper way.
