Weakness of power

The search for power can be a basic motive of human behaviour. That is why we have legal and moral factors to curb this immoral and destructive conduct that has plagued humanity since the dawn of consciousness. And yet —this is skewed and used only for new potential challenges for place in power. Those already entenched in power — political, religious, social, economical or all of them at once — tend to be doing fine and regard us only as (ocasionally restless) subjects.

Vast numbers of people (or subjects) are impressed by predictable vulgar displays of power and willingly accept their place in life and their rung on the society ladder. They see it as a sign of strength and of internal drive and of some kind of personal quality. They see this power from a materialistic point of view — somebody else has the power over their lives, their livelihood, their freedom, their social standing. They accept it without as much as a second thought. Our society has been conditioned to be meek and look for recourse in acceptable and democratic ways — which no longer work, since corporations and monopolies (and by extension those who let them be without checks and balances, i.e. all politicians) are not bound by democratic institutions and laws, nor by any morals.

In reality — those who cling to power, who lust after power, who debase themselves to be in power — are not strong at all. Their lust for power is rooted in the fundamental weakness they all have — an inability to let their individual self to stand alone and live. And let live. It is no more than a desperate attempt to gain secondary strength where their genuine strength is lacking. And they can accomplish that only by projecting power over others and running the lives of others. They are themselves pityful, impotent husks whose life depends on sucking life elements from others. They feast on individual lives with the help of willing lackeys who search for (legal) ways to show their power (physical) over the weaker. And I don’t know where we can go from here…
