Yesterday I didn't write anything here because from 6.30 am to 10 pm I was not in control of my time. I barely had time for a pause to catch my breath or have a cigarette break. Sitting down to think for a while was not permitted, we were constantly moving and doing something. That is par for the course on a business trip with top management — they make decisions even more blatantly than usual and we have to like and appreciative. No matter…

Something else stuck with me during that time — something that I cannot wrap my head around at all no matter how I try. What is the point of traveling hundreds, or even close to a thousand kilometers, and not finding just half an hour to see the city where you were traveling? I understand that it is a business trip, but come on! What is the point of just being in a hotel and going to some restaurants nearby and getting drunk in the evening (like the whole group did with me being the only exception) without finding a few minutes to walk 50 meters more to the Old Town? And the Old Town in Pilsen is beautiful. Not commercial at all, still untouched by ads and hordes of tourists. A real gem of Bohemian history and architecture. For me, I dealt with this situation by trying to keep quiet and just doing what was necessary. And waking up at 5.30 in the morning just to have that half an hour of my time in the morning to go on a walk to see a city where I was for the first time and might never be back. The other thirteen people from my group didn't bother. And it doesn't bother me that they have chosen that way to travel, but I feel disappointed with them…
